Having made the decision to breed our own horses Nicola has spent a great deal of time researching bloodlines and potential stallions for our mares. We have travelled to Europe to visit some of the very best breeding stables in the world including Paul Schockemole stables, VDL stud, Nijhof and Bockmann stables. We have been able to see the stallions in their natural environment and asses their temperament, conformation and type.
This has been invaluable because there is only so much information you can gain from a stallions promotional video.
We have also attended the stallion shows in Vechta, Germany where we have been able to see many stallions showing their jumping ability.
Stallions from all over Europe are now available to us by using artificial insemination and therefore we are able to use some of the best grand prix show jumpers in the world.
We also pay a great deal of attention to the dam line as the mare that we breed from is equally as important as the stallion. We will only use top quality mares with proven bloodlines and make sure that we match the mare with a stallion that suits her the best and compliments her type, conformation, temperament and jumping technique.
Once the foals have been born they benefit from growing up in a natural environment and receive regular trims from the farrier until they are old enough to come in to begin their training.
Below is a list of some of the stallions that we have used so far in our breeding programme.
